Julia Vlahogiannis is a multi award-winning composer based in Sydney Australia. Inspired from the traditions and contemporary attributes of classical, jazz and electronic dance music, Vlahogiannis strives to create works that embody beauty, dance driven momentum and to develop deep emotional connection with audiences.

Vlahogiannis has had works premiered and commissioned throughout Australia and internationally. She has worked closely with Geist String Quartet with special guest violinist Ilya Ishakovich (ACO), Symphony Tacoma, Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO), Vanguard Consort (Perth), Sydney Conservatorium of Music Symphony Orchestra (SCMSO), Spectra Jazz Orchestra, bassoonists Rebecca Allen and James Fisherman (Dubai International expo), Grevillea Quintet, Macquarie University Symphony Orchestra (MUSO), double bassist Bonita Williams (OAO) and wind band Ensemble Da Capo.

Vlahogiannis is a passionate composition teacher and tutor at Sydney Schools through private tuition and classroom workshops. She teaches composition to years 7-12 including HSC extension music. She has a love and passion for helping young composers cultivate their musical language and technique, as well as problem solving challenges to allow their compositional voice to come through.
